The effective grasp of a language demands consistent reinforcement at differentiated levels. From Year 5, all children learn French or Mandarin for two lessons a week, taught by our own language teachers. Thai is mandatory for all Thai students and is taught by our dedicated Thai teachers and our large community of Dutch students benefits from the Dutch program for between two and three hours weekly between Reception and Secondary School, with the option of IGCSE and IBDP qualifications.

The frequency of language lessons increases in Secondary School and is reflected in the students’ aptitude and fluency.

Language lessons are complemented by the celebration of important national holidays and festivals, where language students share their learning, and native speaking teachers impart their cultural knowledge and experiences.

From Nursery onwards, we welcome students who do not have English as their first language and provide an academically robust, comprehensive and high level English as an Additional Language (EAL) programme. This is tailored and resourced to provide optimal conditions for academic and personal success.
