Activities Programme swells to over 100+ this term

100+ activities are now available this year for our students with our enriched and extended program. The new “Gardening for kids” activity has been a huge success with plenty of “hands-on” learning. Initially, there was a scavenger hunt to find the variety of plants that grow here at our beautiful campus. Children were amazed by the different aromatic herbs within their reach, and this inspired them to discover other species and grow their own. They started germinating seeds with an eggshell seed starter - the broccoli sprouts grew abundantly, making the eggshell look like bushy heads! However, the children quickly realised that growing plants needs commitment, requiring regular watering so they put in place a schedule to list everyone’s responsibilities to ensure the plants did not die. They also experimented and tried to regrow some of the kitchen scraps like, spring onion, onion, garlic, ginger and lemon grass. Everyone had fun getting their hands dirty and discovering their green thumbs!
The next stage will be to set up the Green Valley Potager - there will be allotments where the children can grow herbs and vegetables, and a small shed to grow seedling. Here is to a greener Green Valley! #GVlearns
