Cactus Planting

Do you know how long a cactus plant can survive without water? And do you know where they store their food? These were some of the important facts that our Year 3 children learnt about when Ms Surang Tubkhun, a retired Agricultural teacher and now a consultant, came to visit our school this week. She shared her in-depth knowledge about planting and taking care of cactus plants, and informed the children that instead of the cactus using their leaves as a food source it uses its thorns. They also learnt that the cactus plant can survive without water for a month! At the end of this session all the children were enthused and ready to grow their own prickly cactus plants.
