Pierre awarded the 'Institution of Chemical Engineers Books Prize'
Alumni update: in 2017 Pierre achieved 43 points in IB and secured a place at Imperial College London to study Chemical Engineering. After his first year at University, in addition to being on the Dean's List (top 10% of students) he was then named as the top student for Faculty of Chemical Engineering and awarded the 'Institution of Chemical Engineers Books Prize'. Nick, his father, wrote: "We were so proud to find out that Pierre has been awarded this prize. A key factor of his success can be attributed to the progress and guidance that Pierre made at St Andrews and reinforces the pride you should all feel for your school." Pierre credits his achievements to the thorough preparation he received whilst studying the broad IB diploma programme, and whilst he is on an engineering degree he has drawn on many other aspects of his IB course such as Economics, English and the Theory of Knowledge. However, he says by far the biggest praise he can give IB compared to other curriculums is simply the experience of doing it: the time-management skills needed to complete internal assessments and CAS projects, the writing skills employed for the extended essay and the ability to meet tight deadlines. Congratulations Pierre!
