Once again St. Andrews Green Valley held our annual Poetry Slam. Each year, the students and their poems keep getting better and better! Students from Years 5-8 performed either their own poem, or a chosen one, in front of both Primary and Secondary school students and staff with great aplomb. Students could either perform individually or in a pair and they were judged on the day by Mr. Thorp, Mr. Minty and Mr. Ramsay. The criteria for a successful poem were: Physical Presence, Voice and Articulation, Dramatic Techniques, Level of difficulty/Evidence of Understanding and Overall Performance.
All students who had successfully made it through to the final performed their poems with great skill, talent and confidence. However, in the end we had to pick the best from each year group and one overall winner. Congratulations to all students who participated in this competition, and especially for those who won. The winners are: Year 5 - Lenny, Year 6 – Paul,Year 7 - Nadia and Lily, Year 8 – Fa and the overall winner was Sonje – Year 6. Congratulations to all the participants!
