Students excel at MUN (Model United Nations)
The MUN (Model United Nations) students from Green Valley recently participated at GIS. It was a tiring, yet fun, day filled with delegates debating global topics (ranging from regulating exponential population growth to saving endangered wildlife) all from the stance of the delegates' chosen represented countries. For students Yujun, Eric and Ella, it was their first time taking part in the MUN experience. It was also one of our more experienced MUN delegates, Jiwon’s, first time chairing a committee (HRC), and she did a great job.
Several resolutions submitted by St. Andrews delegates were passed, including the ‘joke resolution’ which took place in the ECOSOC committee: “The Building of the Trump Wall,” which was submitted by the delegate of USA, Toosje and supported by the delegate of Mexico, Annelies. The resolution on “Stability in the Northern Triangle,” submitted by Jake and Aslan, was also passed in the UN Security Council. Our first time delegates enjoyed their first MUN experience, and although exhausted at the end of the day, they were satisfied they had got the most out of the conference; and fully engaged in the debates.
We hope to see our new, and veteran, delegates take part in future MUN conferences in the not too distant future. Reported by Toosje and Li in Year 11.
