Year 1 Eco House

As part of their Unit of Inquiry on ‘Shelters and the different materials used to construct them ‘ Year 1 have been planning, designing and are now building their own eco house made out of recycled plastic bottles. During the Primary assembly last week they presented their eco project and explained how to make an eco-brick. They also persuaded all students to help them with this project by making their own eco bricks and bringing them into school so Year 1 can use them for their plastic eco house.

On Tuesday the Thai department and all the Year 1 teachers and students held a blessing ceremony for the area of land where their eco house will be built. During this blessing they placed 9 different types of wood into the foundations and scattered seeds and dried corn for good luck and prosperity. Now the Year 1s are ready to start constructing their eco house with the help of Mr. Ben who is the project manager. We can’t wait for the house warming party!
