Year 10 Work Experience
Work Experience for our Secondary students in Year 10 provides an excellent opportunity for them to gain an insight into what it is like to be a member of the work force. During their week at work they gain a better understanding of the skills and demands of the real world. The development of character, confidence, interpersonal and communication skills is a key outcome of the work experience placement. All of the student gained valuable experience which was evident in some of their comments when they returned: “Working at the hotel was certainly an eye opener as there were a lot of challenges with customers”, “Working within the service industry was a humbling experience”, “I learnt that hard work pays off”, “Work experience was a chance to think about myself and my future”.
This year our students experienced a wide range of careers from advertising to wake boarding, caring for stray dogs to chemical engineering. We would like to say a huge thank you to all the organisations who agreed to provide our students with placements. Thanks also to the many parents who I know play an important role in finding suitable work places. It was a fantastic learning opportunity for our students that would not be possible without the support of our community.
