Year 7 Identity Day
Over the past 4 weeks, Year 7 have been working on a cross curricular unit focused on the theme of 'Identity'. The students experienced how identity can be studied within English, Maths, Science, Art, Music and History. Their overall target was to create a presentation showing what they had learned about identity within their chosen subjects, and then present these to Years 5, 6 and 8.
On the morning of Monday 29th March, after 4 weeks of teaching, the students were given 4 days to plan, create and present what they had learned about identity within the subjects of their choosing read to be presented on the afternoon of Thursday 1st April.
This was no easy task; students were given complete agency in how they wanted to present their findings. They could choose to work individually or up to a maximum of four people (this choice meant how many subjects they had to talk about). They could choose whether to create a digital or tangible presentation. They could choose whether to make their presentation interactive or not.
The students demonstrated how creative and forward thinking they are by having a range of ideas to show what they had learned. We had finger printing, questionnaires, music performances, poetry, masks, dramatic performances, and even virtual reality!
The presentations were a great success and showed that St Andrews students are creative, open minded and talented!
