Year 9 Khao Yai Experience
From March 6—9, 2018, the Year 9 students went on the annual camping trip to Khao Yai National Park. The students slept in tents and were required to buy their own food, prepare it and then cook it. They also had 2 wonderful days walking through the rainforest.
After they returned from the camp the students were asked to write down a few of their thoughts. Below are what four different students said:
“In Khao Yai we had to camp in tents for 3 nights and we stayed there for 4 days. I enjoyed putting up the tent and making my own food. We had an 8K trek on the second day and on the 3rd day we had a 11K trek. The treks were really good and I liked every part of it, even though it was tiring I had a lot of fun. I also enjoyed the bonfires and the 'would you rathers' and the 'truth or dares'. I enjoyed all of the trip so much and I would want to go again but for a longer period of time.”
“I personally found the Khao Yai camping trip one of the best school trips I've been on. It was an unforgettable experience which I would give more or less anything to repeat. It was a good opportunity to connect with people you don't normally keep in touch with and get closer together as a year group. My most memorable part of the trip was the two campfires we had on our first and second night. This is because we played lots of fun (and slightly embarrassing for some people) games eg. would you rather. The campfires were also the bits of the trip that made me laugh the most because of all the careless things we did that left us all with special hillarious memories.”
“The Khao Yai caming trip is an experience like never before. You get the true immersive feeling of survival and a self depending experience. Team work is essential to have every member stay in shape and in good morale.”
“I really enjoyed getting home. It really made me appreciate how lucky i am. i will never take what I have for granted again.”
