Top in Thailand for Drama IGCSE exam!
Andy McMurray, from Green Valley, has achieved outstanding success in the Cambridge IGCSE Drama course, coming top in Thailand with a remarkable 96% score. This result was a combination of practical performance work which accounts for 60% of the course and a final exam which adds another 40% to the total. Throughout the course Andy showed a willingness to challenge himself and make the most of every acting opportunity that presented itself. At one point, in Year 11 he was involved in three productions: The starring role in the Secondary production of ‘Macbeth Reloaded’, three separate roles in the play ‘Confusions’ by Alan Aykbourn and a substantial role in the local community group, Pattaya Player’s production. It is a tribute to his versatility and talent that he was able to pull off all three so successfully. Andy’s overall score puts him in the top 3% of Drama students in the world and of course, he will be delighted when he goes to Bangkok Patana School on the 22nd of November with his equally delighted Drama teacher, Douglas Heron, to receive the ‘Top in Country’ award. Mr McGee, Head of Secondary, is thrilled with this news: "This award is a fantastic achievement for Andy as he has been a pivotal actor in secondary drama productions for a number of years. Congratulations must also go to Mr Heron who has been Andy’s Drama teacher for the past 5 years and worked with Andy and the rest of the 2017 IGCSE class to achieve a large percentage of A* and A grades this year."
