One Day, One Goal 2016 raises a record amount for local charities
Saturday 16th January saw the 6th annual “One Day, One Goal” Charity football event -hosted by United Football- take place at St. Andrews International School, Green Valley. The dark grey clouds above looked ominous but thankfully, the downpour never came.
This year’s charities funds were raised for were: The Shelter, Take Care Kids and Fountain of Life. Through sponsorship, donations and entry fees, this year’s event looked to be the biggest yet.
As usual the morning session began with the football tournament. 53 teams from 8 schools comprising of 400 children, made for a fierce competition and our biggest turn out ever. The standard was extremely high and St. Andrews once again proved to be a force to be reckoned with.
When all was said and done St. Andrews came away with 4 out of a possible 8, 1st place trophies. Children as young as 5 through to 13 showcased their enthusiasm, ability and skill all in the aid of a good cause. Every Baht raised from their entry fees has gone to one of the 3 charities.
In the afternoon as the tournament came to a close, the focus shifted to the children from our charity groups. They were treated to an afternoon of football coaching, basketball coaching, swimming lessons and play time on the bouncy castle. It is the least we can give back to the community and the kids clearly got a lot out of it.
Our Parent Teacher Group (PTG) once again played a pivotal role in the day, keeping everybody fed and hydrated throughout the day was no mean feat. Several other stalls were in attendance including: The Marriott Rayong and The Pattaya Rayong Ladies Circle. Also our CAS Crew students were on hand to keep children entertained and help run the afternoons activities.
The children were also given gifts courtesy of Hanky Panky Games and hats courtesy of United Football.
A big thank you goes out to all our event sponsors:
COGNITA Education, United Football, the Marriot Rayong, St. Andrews Parent Teacher Group, Rayong Pattaya Ladies Circle, Auto Alliance Thailand, Bangkok Hospital Pattaya, Hanky Panky Games, St. Andrews CAS Crew
The biggest thank you of all must go to Mr. Matthew Dunn who is the sole organiser, he spends the entire year bringing One Day, One Goal together and raises hundreds of 1000s of baht for charity. Thank you Matt.
At the time of writing the total money raised and donated to our charities is well in excess of 150,000thb making it another record breaking year!
We hope to see the numbers increasing next year!
