One Day, One Goal charity event is a huge success!
The St Andrews ‘One Day One Goal’ charity football event was a huge success! This year was our largest tournament so far in terms of money raised and teams entered. We had 10 schools (from the local area and Bangkok) with almost 50 teams competing and we even had a couple of the charities, Haven and Fountain of Life- sending some teams to compete for the first time, which was a fantastic sight to see. As always the day started with a football competition where the games were played in the spirit that was intended and there were some moments of individual and team brilliance throughout the morning. At St Andrews we were very proud of the number of teams who entered from our school and the parental support which all helped us to take home 5 of the 8 available 1st place trophies with a 2nd and two 3rds in the other age groups. Some of the highlights of the day were the matches against the charities who had some very skilful players and it was great to see the opposition from the school teams also removing their boots and playing in their socks to literally make it an even playing field.
The most important aspect of the day was supporting our 3 sponsored charities. Fountain of Life, The Shelter and Haven who are three amazing charities who provide essential support for many children in need. As well as raising funds for them, during the second part of the day all the children from the charities were welcomed into the St Andrews community and were able to enjoy a fun-packed afternoon of archery, bouncy castle, music, swimming and other fun activities.
Many, many thanks must go to our major sponsors; Cognita, Allied Building, Thai Tank Terminal, Sisaran, United Football, Auto Alliance, Bangkok Hospital, Harbor Pattaya, Holiday Inn, Silverlake Vineyard, Barcelona Valley, The PTG, Pattaya Ladies Circle, Malinalli Mexico, Bangsaray Beach Club and London Pie who donated money or prizes for the raffle to help raise funds. We are still collating the final figure but at the time of writing we are looking at a profit of over 100,000 baht which will be divided between the charities.
