Students spread the word at the Poetry Slam

The St. Andrews International School, Green Valley Annual Poetry Slam was, once again, a terrific success. The standard of the contestants and the levels of complexity and range of poems showed the huge amount of talent here at St Andrews. The competition started 3 weeks ago when students had to either learn or write their own poem and perform it in front of their year group either solo or with a partner. From there, there were 5 to 6 winners who then made it to the final that was held on Thursday 18th May. The students from Years 5, 6, 7 and 8, then had to perform in front of all their peers in a bid to win the best poetry slam of their year group or the coveted best overall award. With each performance being so strong, the judges had a difficult time deciding the winners. The final results were:
Year 5 Winner: Noah Greener
Year 6 Winner: Anchalin (Madee) Tangtanapaiboon & Natthansa (Ink) Ngamhathaisri
Year 7 Winner: Sally Scott
Year 8 Winner: Jake Heron
Overall Winner: Piper Negus & Eva Gerkema
Congratulations to all students who took part and to the winners. We'll see you next year!
