Year 5 team leader's work presented at International Conference
Ruth Mullan, our Year 5/6 Team Leader, has had her work presented at a major conference in Sydney and it will be used again at the upcoming UNESCO conference in Bangkok.
Ruth has been attending a ‘Leading Teacher Teams’ course run by Dr Richard Owens, the Director of the Cognita Centre for Leadership and Learning, and Mr Andrew Mowat coach, trainer, facilitator and consultant to schools in Australia, England and Canada. They were so impressed with Ruth’s video footage, that explored her leadership journey, and her written reflections on her growth as a leader that they have incorporated them in two conference papers.
The first conference was the Australian College of Educators National Conference in Sydney, held last week. It is a significant event in the Australian education calendar and is attended by government ministers, university leaders, school administrators and teachers. Dr Owens said “The session went really well, and we received considerable interest from others working in the area of leadership and network development.” He also added “It is great to see work from staff at Cognita schools having a wider impact and influence at these conferences.”
The second paper, incorporating Ruth’s reflections, will be presented at the upcoming UNESCO Conference in Bangkok. The conference will explore themes related to quality teaching, with the paper linked into a topic focus on leadership development.
Congratulations to Ruth, this is a fantastic achievement!
