The Importance of Outdoor Learning in Early Years

Boots on, curiosity switched on — our Pre-Nursery explorers were off on another adventure with Mr Ben in Forest School.

They balanced on obstacle courses, stirred up some seriously muddy “cooking” in the sensory kitchen, peered through magnifying glasses at beetles and bugs, and got their hands delightfully dirty doing what children do best — learning through play.

According to research, children who regularly spend time outdoors are more likely to develop stronger problem-solving skills, longer attention spans, and better physical coordination. In fact, studies show that outdoor play can reduce stress levels by up to 28% and improve early language development by 26% when paired with sensory-rich environments. (Source : OutdoorOwls)

At St. Andrews Green Valley, we believe some of the most important lessons don’t happen at desks — they happen in the dirt.
