Secondary Years Overview

Welcome to Secondary Years

In Secondary, we’re here to guide every step of your child’s journey as they grow into confident, caring, and well-rounded young people. Our broad and balanced curriculum encourages students to follow their interests, discover their strengths, and develop the skills they need for the future—whether that’s through IGCSE, the IB Diploma, or beyond.

Learning here goes hand in hand with personal growth. Our supportive pastoral system means every child is known and cared for, not only in their studies but also socially and emotionally. We help them build resilience, kindness, and confidence so they are ready to embrace challenges and opportunities.

Outside the classroom, students can explore passions in sports, music, drama, and a wide range of activities, all within the natural beauty of our green campus. Together, this creates a nurturing environment where every child can thrive, achieve, and feel part of a community.

Teaching Philosophy

At St. Andrews Green Valley, we believe that education is a shared journey between students, teachers, and parents. In Secondary, we focus on nurturing independent thinkers, preparing students not only academically but also personally for the future.

Our curriculum is designed to spark curiosity and foster growth, with a strong emphasis on critical thinking and real-world connections. But it doesn’t stop there—we know that collaboration is key. That’s why we work closely with parents, ensuring that every child’s needs and aspirations are fully supported.

Together, we help our students thrive, both inside and outside the classroom.

Years 7-9 (Key Stage 3)

In Years 7–9, students follow the English National Curriculum, enriched to reflect our international community. They explore sciences, humanities, mathematics, and language and literacy, while developing creativity through music, art, drama, and technology. Students also study Mandarin, French, Dutch, or Thai. Subject specialists guide them to think critically, make connections, and prepare confidently for Year 10.

Years 10-11 (IGCSE)

In Years 10–11, students follow IGCSE courses from Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) and Pearson Edexcel, providing a strong foundation for future study, including the IB Diploma. These years combine academic challenge with personal growth, helping students develop curiosity, resilience, and confidence. Students who are ready can also take Year 10 early entry to accelerate their learning.

Years 12-13 (IB Diploma Programme)

In Years 12–13, students take the internationally recognized IB Diploma Programme (IBDP), exploring subjects they are passionate about while developing academic knowledge and life skills. They engage with Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay, Creativity, Activity, and Service (CAS), and IB Courses⁺, a tailored selection eligible for university credit. Our inclusive, non-selective approach ensures every student thrives, with a proud record of 100% university acceptance.
